subtext

This application takes how we already share geoscience and engineering data and knowledge. It merges what we talk about, create pictures of, and look at together with whiteboards, using PowerPoint slides, and screen sharing of technical software.

The idea comes from seeing the difficulty of communicating ideas and intent about the subsurface both vertically within a company, and laterally across different teams and disciplines.

This is being built by a small team with big ambitions. We’re prototyping openly, gathering feedback and genuinely excited to hear any thoughts. Subtext is a product being developed by BORIS (an acronym for a boring llc name).

We're planning to launch a demo in Fall (Autumn) 2026, and then a beta by the end of the year. We're focusing on oil & gas and geothermal energy primarily, with a future expansion for mining and other subsurface resources.
